Would you benefit from valuable student mentoring in the RMIT Business Plan Competition?
The aim of the RMIT Business Plan Competition is to encourage RMIT student teams to use their ideas, talents and energy to create innovative new businesses through the development of competitive business plans.
The Competition is an RMIT wide initiative which aims to foster entrepreneurial activities within RMIT and the broader community by giving students the opportunity to take their ideas and develop them into new, innovative companies and ventures. The Competition offers a rich learning experience, skills development, student mentoring and networking opportunities, and prizes to help develop an idea into a successful business.
Members from the Rotary Club of Malvern have participated in student mentoring for the RMIT Business Plan Competition Team. Mentors are members of the business community who are experienced in the development, preparation and evaluation of business plans. Mentors’ experience is greatly valued by participants in the competition.
The student mentoring assists and advises teams in the RMIT Business Plan Competition to develop and prepare their Business Plan for judging. Rotary Mentors provide advice, expertise and access to networks to assist the teams in areas such as financial planning, risk management, marketing and intellectual property protection as they develop their business plans.
Each Rotary prospective mentor provides a short profile of their experience which also provides valuable information to assist RMIT in the matching process. Details, such as experience in particular industries or sectors or products / services and markets, will assist in linking Rotary expertise to the needs of a team. Details of the team are taken into consideration in the matching process, which include depth of experience in the team, product or service and market for the proposed business
For Rotary members it is a great chance to be part of the most prestigious competition in the Australasian Region, with a pool of $80,000 cash and in kind prizes, set to exceed $100K in 2009.
In addition to professional development this student mentoring brings us into the RMIT BPC network, which includes many senior members of Melbourne's Business Community, the Universities Global community, as well as a dynamic group of students on the path to becoming 'Future Entrepreneurs'. Student mentoring also provides our Rotary Members a great sense of personal satisfaction and achievement as you see these student teams grow and develop in self confidence and business skills through the experience and knowledge that Rotary business people have developed over a number of years.
