District 9800 ConferenceThe District 9800 Conference is next being held in Perth from March 4-7 2010.

Congratulations to the Rotary Club of North Balwyn for organising such a wonderful and successful conference in Launceston in March 2009. Now it’s the turn of the Rotary Club of Werribee to organise the next conference.

Perth, Western Australia is the location for our 78th Annual Rotary District 9800 Conference. This promises to be an outstanding location.  The District 9800 conference will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Werribee at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre, right in the heart of the city from the 4th to 7th March 2010.

The conference committee is putting together a program that will inform, entertain and provide a great opportunity for fellowship. The conference programs and activities of our Rotary District will be on display once again, together with a showcase of the best that Western Australia has to offer.

The organising secured many interesting speakers. Already, they have secured a number of eminent Western Australians including Australian of the Year, Dr Fiona Wood, and well known business woman, Janet Holmes a Court.

Those attending the District 9800conference will engage in the best of local entertainment.
The Malvern Rotary Club has already appointed an On To Conference organiser to prepare arrangements for our club.

The District 9800conference will commence with an opening cocktail function at King’s Park, overlooking the city of Perth and the Swan River. Kings Park at dusk on the first evening will certainly set the scene for what is to come. The views from Kings Park are spectacular and not to be missed.

The plenary sessions for the conference will be held in the new Perth Convention Exhibition Centre. The centre seats over 1,600 with a huge dining room, foyer and large space for displays as well as plenty of room to relax in the house of friendship.

One of the highlights of the District 9800 Conference will be the Formal Gala Dinner to be held at the Government House Ballroom on Saturday 6th March. This magnificent opulent venue is the perfect choice for a Black Tie Dinner. Alternatively, a special function is planned on the Saturday evening with a cruise up the Swan River to a well known winery. The event will be a very relaxed casual function under the stars. For those not wishing to attend the formal Gala Dinner this would be a great opportunity to unwind after the conference or relax before your journey back home or heading to other parts of Western Australia.

The Swan River will also be a focus during the District 9800 conference with the opportunity for private cruises such as your club dinners and after conference tours. The conference committee will assist with these arrangements.

The District 9800conference committee is also in discussions with parties to secure travel deals to Perth. We will be shortly announcing preferred rates with all the recognized carriers. Additionally, chartering of a special aircraft, the ‘Rotary Conference Express’, is also a possibility. Another option you may like to consider is train travel or joining an organized 4WD tour to Perth.

The venues, program, functions, entertainment, and after travel opportunities offered at the 2010 District 9800 conference will make it an event not be missed.
