News/Newsletter
A weekly newsletter is prepared. This gives an opportunity for the Malvern Rotary Club to inform its members of what is happening at both the district level and in their local club. The newsletter has an annual theme for example: the theme for 2008 was Make Dreams Real.
The newsletter takes the form of news items and also many photos which provide a pictorial record of what members are doing. The newsletter provides an opportunity to include diary dates, member duties and enlisting calls for help eg bush fire appeal or volunteers needed for the manning of the Dan Murphy BBQ.
We are very excited the Malvern Web page is to be launched this year and will encompass the newsletter in the Members section. The newsletter is a reflection of how active the Malvern Rotary Club is and the breadth of activities and projects that we as members are involved with and the contributions that are made to others.
These are sections of the newsletter and some examples of events which Malvern Rotary has supported.
From the President’s Desk
The president writes a weekly message to club members, which is a demonstration of providing leadership to the group, and is informative on the weekly happenings and future directions of the Rotary Club of Malvern for the coming year.
Forth Coming Events / Projects
One of the major projects for 2008 was the Stonnington Cares Project to assist drought affected families in the Benalla area and a camp was held, hosted by Malvern Rotarians to provide a weekend by the sea. The newsletter was able to have pictures which described this project. The pictures had an element of fun:

In addition, the business breakfast that was held in Stonnington on the 2nd of December 2008 was an example whereby we were able as a club to join with business people in the Malvern Community to host a networking event. This was an exciting first for our club and there was a lot of positive feedback and this event is to be repeated in June 2009. The newsletter helped promote this networking event.
Speakers
An important function of the newsletter is to be able to convey to members the guest speakers who will be presenting talks at each weekly meeting. We include more than the name of the potential guest speaker. We try to give as much information to members as possible so that they are able to invite guests who may be interested in these topics and we also provide a synopsis on what the talk given was about so that we have a outline of what the guest speaker was passing on to the Malvern Rotarians.
